Finding Courses to Graduate or Complete Your Studies
-
Are you a college student planning to complete your associate's or bachelor's degree next term or sometime next year but can't find a specific course you need graduate? Maybe the course isn't offered by your institution this term, the sections are closed, or the course is available but not when you are. Are you afraid you might have to return for another term, putting off beginning work, continuing your education in graduate school or beginning your bachelor's degree program, a trip to Europe or other post-graduation plans? We might have the solution for you.
In 2002, the Southern Regional Education Board developed a strategy to respond to the growing number of reports that state budget cuts were reducing the number of faculty, courses, sections and seats. The result of these cutbacks could be that students ready to complete their studies might not be able to find the courses they need. The plan is a simple but powerful one. Students caught in this situation might be able to find the specific course they need in the SREB's The Teacher Center, a "marketplace" of thousands of online courses available at lower level, upper level, and graduate levels. Secondly, if the course you need is not in the current inventory, let us know the specific course (by name, number, and description) you need and let us utilize our 16-state "partner's network" to rapidly seek any institution within the region that might have a seat available. SREB will then "match up" the student with the institution and help in whatever way it can to facilitate the student taking the course.
We have established on the The Teacher Center website a special search feature just for students like you. We encourage you to visit the Graduating Students page and search the course options currently available. If you don't find what you need, drop us a note at electroniccampus@sreb.org and let us continue the search for you.
We are ready to assist those of you in this circumstance.
