Dillard University is a private, non-sectarian, liberal arts institution. The University is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and United Church of Christ as well as a member of the College Fund/UNCF. Historically Black, the University has a proud history dating back to 1869. Located in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans, the University offers prospective students a choice of over 35 majors in six academic deivision. The University is committed to serving and preserving the unique heritage and culture of New Orleans, an ethnically diverse and historically important seaport .
