CAMPUS SUMMARY
Transylvania, Kentucky's first college and the 16th in the nation, is among the top 100 private liberal arts colleges in the nation. Located in a park-like setting a few blocks from modern downtown Lexington, Transylvania offers big-city advantages--including convenient internships--in a small-college atmosphere. Expert professors publish their research findings, but above all they teach and motivate students through small classes and individual instruction. Faculty advisers and an extensive career development program help students make career choices.

Generous financial awards include the William T. Young Scholarships--each worth more than $60,000 over four years. These cover full tuition and are awarded annually to 25 incoming freshmen with outstanding academic and leadership qualities.

About half of Transylvania's graduates enter professional or graduate school, with nine out of ten recommended to medical school being accepted. Many others receive scholarships to prestigious law schools or enroll in top graduate programs throughout the country.

Students from various ethnic, social, geographic, and economic gackgrounds enjoy a common Transylvania heritage that includes an impressive list of alumni, including two U.S. vice presidents, 36 governors, and more than 50 senators. Thomas Jefferson was a longtime Transylvania supporter. Today, Transylvania continues to produce leaders in business, education, government, the sciences, and the arts. Ongoing multi-million-dollar construction projects keep the campus modern while preserving its rich tradition.

UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
An extensive study abroad program enables students to experience life in an international setting while earning academic credit. Students may choose to study in affiliated programs or to enroll independently in foreign universities nearly anywhere in the world. Scholarships for study abroad are available for both the regular academic year and for summer.

The William R. Kenan Jr. Lecture Series brings respected experts and well-known speakers to campus twice a year. The public lectures provide a forum through which members of the campus community and citizens of central Kentucky come together to consider current topics of interest and importance.
