CAMPUS SUMMARY
Western Piedmont Community College was chartered by the North Carolina State Board of Education on April 2, 1964, as a member of the North Carolina Community College System. Western Piedmont is located at the intersection of I-40 and Highway 64 within the corporate limits of Morganton, N.C. (pop. 24,700), the county seat.
In recent years Western Piedmont has attracted national attention with a replica of Senator Sam J. Ervin’s home library and the annual Constitutional Issues Forum.


UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Western Piedmont offers three associate degrees which are for transfer to senior colleges and universities. They are the Associate in Arts (AA), the Associate in Science (AS), and the Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) degrees.
Western Piedmont also collaborates with other community colleges in offering four additional AAS degree programs: Dental Hygiene, Early Childhood Associate, Electric Lineman Technology, and Speech-Language Pathology Assisting.
Through the Continuing Education Division specialized training programs are available in the following areas: Fire Service, Emergency Medical Technician, Rescue Squad, Hospitality, Law Enforcement and Day Care Workers.
