Established in 1965, Wilkes Community College offers services to the citizens of Wilkes, Ashe, and Alleghany counties. Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the college provides opportunities for higher education throughout northwest North Carolina.
The wooded and beautifully landscaped 150-acre main campus is located in Wilkesboro, just off highways US 421 and NC 268 west. Extension campuses are located in West Jefferson and Sparta.
The Wilkesboro campus includes over 297,000 square feet of classrooms, laboratories, shops, student areas, and offices. Located on the main campus is the 1,131-seat John A Walker Community Center. The center provides a wide variety of cultural and entertainment performances throughout the year. WCC also hosts MerleFest, an Americana music festival held annually during the last week of April. |

Wilkes Community College offers a myriad of programs from Automotive Systems Technology/Concentration in Race Car Performance to Culinary Technology. To meet the constantly changing needs of a diverse audience of learners, WCC offers unique methods of course delivery via distance learning. Distance learning activities at Wilkes Community College provide services to curriculum and continuing education students, to citizens in the service area and beyond. Distance education is designed to provide course delivery and includes telecourses, internet courses, teleconferences, and courses produced via the cyber classroom. |
