CAMPUS SUMMARY
Before we give you all the details about NC State, we'd like to talk about the University as a whole. Since its founding in 1887, NC State has established itself as a dynamic academic community. If you choose to enter NC State this year, you will be part of an academic community of twenty-nine thousand students from fifty states and one hundred different countries who have chosen to study at one of the nation's outstanding universities.

Our beautiful campus hosts a great diversity of people, programs, and excitement. But don't let our size worry you. We're sure you will feel right at home and welcome here.

Students select NC State as their home for four years for a variety of reasons: its strong academics, excellent reputation, low cost, career advantages, prospering Raleigh/Triangle location, and social opportunities.

UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
NC State is one of the nation's most dynamic research universities. It is fourth in the nation in attracting corporate research. Moreover, our professors are not only dedicated teachers but are also among the top research scientists and scholars in their fields. Their work creates a spirit of intellectual adventure on campus, in classrooms, and in laboratories. These professors bring unique knowledge and special enthusiasm into the classroom. NC State currently has a faculty to student ratio of one to fourteen.

As a student at NC State, you have many academic options through our undergraduate degree-granting colleges. We offer eighty-nine baccalaureate degree programs in science, education, liberal arts, agriculture, business, social sciences, computer science, communication, and engineering. We offer programs in Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, and Environmental Engineering as well as dual degree programs in which students can combine varied academic interests. You may choose from over five-thousand courses offered at NC State, not to mention courses available to you through our consortium with any of the five Cooperating Raleigh Colleges, Duke, and UNC-Chapel Hill.

NC State also participates in the National Student Exchange Program which enables you to study at over one hundred other institutions across the country while still enrolled at NC State.
