CAMPUS SUMMARY
Founded in 1896, Wingate University ranks among the top liberal arts institutions in the South. It has been consistently listed as one of the nation's best small colleges by U.S. News and World Report and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The 390-acre campus is a safe, close-knit supportive community. Just 20 miles from Charlotte, Wingate offers all the advantages of a thriving urban environment, including opportunities for internships at nationally known firms.

With a small class size - just 13 students for every faculty member - students receive the personal attention that encourages them to succeed. With only 1,300 students, it's easy to get to know classmates and find activities to enjoy. More than 50 clubs and organizations, including sororities and fraternities, provide opportunities for leadership and friendship. In keeping with Wingate's Baptist affiliation, students are encouraged to become involved in the community, and opportunities to volunteer abound.

A strong intramural program offers recreational fun, while intercollegiate sports mean serious competition and the opportunity for athletic scholarships. Participating in NCAA Division II, Wingate has achieved regional and national success in both its men's and women's athletic programs. The 16 teams Wingate fields include football, baseball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, swimming, softball, cross country, tennis, golf, and volleyball.

UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
At the heart of Wingate's superior classroom experience is its excellent faculty. Having studied at some of the world's greatest institutions of higher learning, faculty members teach more than 40 majors on the undergraduate level, pre-professional programs, and graduate courses in business (MBA) and education (MAEd, MAT). Popular Wingate majors are business, communications, music and athletic training.
