Other special or unique academic programs:
AU's Dept. of Animal Sciences offers an Equine Science option for students interested in a career in the horse industry. The degree option focuses not on riding skills, but on science-based classes that prepare students for upper-level-management jobs in the horse industry. It integrates disciplines on the management and welfare of horses, and the use of horses as athletes in performance and pleasure arenas. Equine Science majors can also qualify to apply to the College of Veterinary Medicine.
